Straw Sued Over Libyan's Rendition Claims



Former foreign secretary Jack Straw is being sued by a Libyan military commander over his alleged complicity in his rendition and torture.

Legal papers have been served on the Labour MP which suggest he signed documents allowing Abdel Hakim Belhadj, 45, to be sent back to his homeland in 2004.

The civil action, believed to be the first case of its kind against a senior politician, could lead to Mr Straw being forced to pay damages or even criminal prosecution.

Lawyers for Mr Belhadj refused to reveal how much they are seeking in compensation, although they have made clear they are not "ruling anything out". Read More
