A village's plans to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a street party could be cancelled - because killjoy council chiefs say proper 'street closed' signage needs to be erected for health and safety reasons.
Four mums in Rhuddlan, North Wales, have spent months raising cash to to pay for the shindig's food and decorations - but were quoted more than twice what they had to pay for the signs.
They say they will have to cancel, breaking the hearts of families in the tiny town.
One of four party organisers, Hazel Morris, 54, said: 'It is incredible - we are happy to make the signs ourselves but that isn’t good enough for them.
'We need an official contractor to do it. The lowest cost we’ve been quoted locally is £2,000 for them to be made and displayed. Read More
