Residents in various parts of Dubai were caught unawares on Thursday morning as winds blew up sand and dust. Sun bathing crowds promptly ran off to hide away from the sand that quickly filled the air in Silicon Oasis, reports Abdul Kader, who was at the pool when a sandstorm hit Dubai.
The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has urged motorists to take extra care of the low horizontal visibility due to dust and sand.
In a statement today, the centre urged motorists to adhere to the traffic rules.
In Al Quoz: “I was only outside for 5 minutes to smoke a cigarette, but I came back with sand in my mouth and hair,” says Philippe Thomas, an employee who happened to be outside when sand swept through the streets of Dubai. Read More
