Putin: Integration of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan Irreversible

Integration processes, involving Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, are currently beyond the point of no return. This opinion of view was expressed by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during his speech in the Duma on April 11, where he presented a report on the work of the Russian government in 2011.

Vladimir Putin considers the formation of the Customs Union and Common Economic Space of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the most important geopolitical event of the former Soviet Union since its collapse. According to him, the integration in the Eurasian region is a priority for Russia, since it helps to strengthen the country's position in the world.

The head of the Russian government pointed out that the removal of border barriers within the CES in 2011 had increased the mutual trade turnover of the three countries by 37%, while for the first two months of 2012 - by 13%.

Vladimir Putin hopes that after the launch of the Eurasian Economic Union, scheduled for 2015, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will be joined by other countries that are interested in a more advanced cooperation. Read More
