April 15 - Crowds gather along Pyongyang's river banks for a lavish fireworks display to celebrate the 100th birthday of North Korea founding leader Kim Il-sung, referred to as the 'Eternal President'. Hours before, Kim Il-sung's grandson Kim Jong-un, North Korea's new leader, delivered his first major public speech since taking power last December.
