Neil Heywood 'Killed Over Threats To Leader's Wife'

A British businessman was poisoned in China after he threatened to expose a plan by a senior Communist Party leader's wife to move money abroad, according to reports.

Neil Heywood, an old Harrovian in his early 40s, was found dead in a hotel room in Chongqing in November.

He had reportedly forged close links with Bo Xilai, the charismatic former Communist Party leader of the southwestern city.

Bo's wife, Gu Kailai, is said to have asked Heywood to move a large sum of money abroad, according to sources close to the police investigation.

She is said to have become outraged when he demanded a larger cut of the money than she had expected due to the size of the transaction.

She accused him of being greedy and hatched a plan to kill him after he said he could expose her dealings, one of the sources said, summarising the police case.
