Angry Birds Space fake game infects Android handsets and lets foreign cyber-criminals take over your phone

Download the latest version of Angry Birds and you could find yourself as cheesed off as one of the game's flapping heroes.

Versions of Angry Birds Space - the new version of the hit puzzle game - are infected with malicious software that allows cyber-criminals full control of infected handsets.

Hidden inside a fully working version of the game, a trojan quietly installs malicious code that can be used to steal personal information such as banking details - and even use Android phones as part of mass cyber attacks against other websites.

The Trojan communicates with a remote website in an attempt to download and install further malware onto the compromised Android smartphone.
